There's just no good way to do it, and there are so many bad employees out there that an employer can't really take the risk. What SHOULD happen is that employers should take the time and energy to actually talk to an employee and establish a simple improvement plan before things get to this point. And if it's strictly financial, there should be a little more fair warning and honest conversations with the employee that things might be in jeopardy for them in the future.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;You should, however, have gotten two weeks' severance at least. Most companies give more based on years of service.
